Dr. Mel Pohl, Medical Director of Las Vegas Recovery Center, was recently included in the Best Doctors in America® list for 2013 making it his 4th year in a row. This widely respected list, created by Best Doctors, Inc., results from exhaustive polling of over 45,000 physicians in the United States. In a confidential review, current listees answer the question, "If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?" Best Doctors, Inc. evaluates the review results, and verifies additional information to meet inclusion criteria. Only 5% of the doctors in America earn a spot on the list.
Dr. Pohl is a Board Certified Family Practitioner, certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM). He was a major force in developing Las Vegas Recovery Center's Chronic Pain Rehabilitation Program, a program for individuals who have chronic pain and co-occurring drug dependence. He is the author of A Day Without Pain (Central Recovery Press, 2008) and co-author of Pain Recovery: How to Find Balance and Reduce Suffering from Chronic Pain (Central Recovery Press, 2009), and Pain Recovery for Families: How to Find Balance When Someone Else's Chronic Pain Becomes Your Problem Too (Central Recovery Press, 2010).
Dr. Pohl will be presenting at several upcoming conferences and events. We invite you to attend his lecture at one of the following events:
Central Recovery is both sad to say goodbye and offers best wishes to Claudia Black, Central Recovery Treatment's (CRT) Senior Clinical and Family Services Advisor and Senior Editorial Advisor since 2009.
Over these last three years, Dr. Black has made major contributions to CRT's programs and services including the Family Renewal Program as well as the Pain Recovery Program. We know these contributions will continue to permeate our programs for years to come.
In addition, Dr. Black has published two books (The Truth Begins with You and Intimate Treason) with Central Recovery Press (CRP) and has provided valuable editorial consultation and assistance over this time.
While this has been a valued and mutual collaboration these three years, Claudia has chosen to refocus on her core passion of working with those affected by trauma and co-dependency.
We wish Claudia happiness in the next phase of her career and we, as others, look forward to her further contributions to our field.

Our Rehmar Recovery Residences are uniquely designed and managed to provide a safe, structured and stable environment for individuals in early recovery. Our emphasis is on maintaining an atmosphere of safety and security while allowing individuals the freedom and independence to venture back into society in a self-directed, responsible way. We offer a supportive living environment that includes regular monitoring, supervision and recovery support services for any stage of recovery.
Discovering and establishing recovery from addictive disorders is a gradual process with many stages. For clients in the early phase, including those who may have just completed inpatient or residential treatment, returning home can be a challenge and a common barrier to achieving long-term recovery. The Rehmar Recovery Residences can also be integrated with our convenient outpatient levels of care.
Named after Bobby and Sydney Rehmar, two inspiring and tireless advocates of the recovery movement, these gender specific residences will provide another phase in the full continuum of care.
CRT CEO, Brad Greenstein, believes these new facilities will be a tremendous resource to the Las Vegas Valley recovery community, “Our less restrictive and more self-directed living situation allows those in early recovery to take a lead role in their own care” he says, “while honoring the memory of two selfless icons in the recovery community.”
